Abstract

The free carrier Voigt effect has been measured in orientated, single crystal samples of n-type germanium in the spectral range 6–20 micro at room temperature. The observed anisotropy of the effect measures the effective mass anisotropy associated with the [111] energy ellipsoids and is in good agreement with theoretical calculations.
