Abstract

In August 2019, pomegranate fruits were collected from orchards in the central zone of México, which showed a soft watery rot with the presence of gray mycelium on infected tissues. Morphological and molecular identifications confirmed the isolation of Botrytis cinerea. The pathogenicity was verified with Koch’s postulates. This is the first report confirming the presence of this ascomycete causing gray mold on pomegranate in Mexico.
