Abstract
This paper proposes a multi-product multi-warehouse model to select the best inventory review policy for the group B items in ABC analysis. Products are in multiple warehouses at the same echelon to meet customers’ demands considering some operational constraints. The major limitation is on the warehouses’ capacities that may induce stockout or overstock situations. Hence, a lateral transshipment approach is employed to diminish inventory management issues and support industries in emergency conditions. Due to the complexity of the problem, several hybrid metaheuristic algorithms are proposed to solve the model. In addition, the Taguchi method tunes the main parameters of the algorithms to improve the quality of solutions. Afterward, the effects of the shortage cost and inventory holding cost are evaluated by conducting sensitivity analyses. The results show a lateral transshipment approach can be a tool for diminishing system costs, as well as, the inventory review policy is sensitive to the change of these parameters.
