Résumé
Le vieillissement de la population doit conduire à en retarder les effets néfastes et à favoriser le « bien-vieillir ». Dans ce contexte, le maintien de la bonne santé des seniors par la pratique des activités physiques régulières n’est plus à démontrer. C’est ainsi que nous avons mis en place, au pôle de gériatrie des hôpitaux universitaires de Strasbourg, une consultation de l’aptitude physique pour la santé (CAPS). L’objectif de la CAPS est triple : 1) une évaluation initiale des capacités aérobiques du consultant avec réalisation d’une épreuve cardiorespiratoire maximale; 2) un programme spécifique de reconditionnement en endurance à charge variable, le Programme d’entraînement personnalisé sur cycle (PEP’C), qui comporte 18 séances d’ergocycle de 30 minutes chacune pendant neuf semaines; 3) la pérennisation de la pratique d’activités physiques grâce à des partenaires homologués.
Abstract
An aging population will necessarily lead to delaying harmful symptoms and encouraging “good aging”. In this context, maintaining a good level of health among the elderly through regular physical activity needs no further demonstration. This is why we have set up a Healthy Physical Aptitude Assessment (CAPS) at the Geriatrics Department at the University Hospitals in Strasbourg. The aim of CAPS is threefold: 1) an initial assessment of the aerobic capability of the patient with the performance of a maximum cardio-respiratory test; 2) a special variable load endurance training programme, the PEP’C (Personalized Cycle Training Programme), which consists of 18 ergometric bicycle sessions of 30 minutes each, for 9 weeks; 3) consistent physical activities over time, using approved partners.
