Retraction Note to: Mol Neurobiol (2018) 55:6572–6588
The Editor-in-Chief has retracted this article. After publication, concerns were raised regarding image similarities and unusual features in the figures. Specifically:

Figure 4a midbrain control appears to overlap with Fil-40 + Rot;

Figure 4a striatum control appears to overlap with Fil-40;

Figure 5a TH both midbrain and striatum Rot appear highly similar to Fil-20 + Rot;

Figure 5a a-syn striatum control appears highly similar Fil-40;
-
Figure 8a Bax midbrain Fil-40 + Rot and Fil-40, and striatum control images exhibit unusual features (areas of high similarity within the images).
The authors have provided the raw data and revised figures to address these concerns. However, the raw data files contain further cases of highly similar areas within images. The Editor-in-Chief therefore no longer has confidence in the presented data.
Mariama S. Azmy has agreed to this retraction, but not the wording of this retraction notice. Reem N. El-Naga and Mariane G. Tadros have not responded to any correspondence from the editor or publisher about this retraction. The publisher has not been able to obtain a current email address for Esther T. Menze.
