Abstract

In this manuscript an ultra-wide band (UWB) antenna with triple band-notched features has been proposed. Antenna incorporated with inverted U slot, horizontal slot and symmetrical vertical slots to exhibit triple band-notched functions at WiMAX band (3.3–3.7 GHz), WLAN band (5.15–5.82 GHz) and X-band satellite communication systems for uplink and downlink (7.25–8.39 GHz), respectively. In the process of tuning the resonance frequency of band notch, slot width optimizations have been preferred over slot length. A parametric study is performed on slot width and length to examine the effect on band notch characteristics. The presented antenna has the compact size which makes it suitable to employ it for satellite communication band notching applications and low power short range communications. The UWB antenna has acceptable VSWR (2:1) over 3.15 to 11.00 GHz except band notched frequencies and it shows the close agreement with measured and simulated results.
