Synthesis of Ru(II) complex with 3-(4,5-dihydroimidazol-1-yl)propyltriethoxysilane containing viologen group

Abstract

The nanostructured metallopolymers consisting of the partially quaternized 3-(4,5-dihydroimidazol-1-yl)propyl having the viologen group linked covalently through the alkyl spacer and its Ru(II) complex have been prepared by sol-gel method. Structural elucidation was done with Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, ultraviolet spectroscopy and differential thermal analysis.
