The quantum numbers for the atomic and ionic radii were calculated and used to determine the radii of the first orbitals (coefficients k in the Bohr equation) for ten chemical elements (Cr, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Mo, Ag, W, Pb, U). An equation was obtained for calculating the wavelengths of the characteristic Xradiation containing no empirical coefficients. The wavelengths calculated with this equation for 10 elements differed from the experimental values by ±0.51%. The results obtained confirm the previously advanced hypothesis that the characteristic X-radiation takes place with the participation of the first orbital (n = 1) and the characteristic X-ray series is the next element in the series (n i − 3) of the head lines of the radiation spectrum.
