New Esters of Aromatic Hydroxyl Acids from Moringa oleifera Roots

  • Published:
Chemistry of Natural Compounds Aims and scope

Chemical analysis of the acetone extract (MRA) of Moringa oleifera roots resulted in the isolation of two new esters. Their structures have been elucidated by extensive spectroscopic studies including 1H, 13C, and 2D NMR (DEPT, COSY, NOESY, HMQC, HMBC) spectroscopy. MRA showed a 47% fall in mean arterial blood pressure (MABP) at the dose of 30 mg/kg. Hypotensive activity was independent of cholinergic receptors.
