Nutritional therapy in a rapid progressive course of malignant disease

Summary

On the basis of experience with a patient, the problems encountered in the inducement of a proper and timely nutritional therapy in the case of a rapidly advancing malignant disease are shown. The report addresses the issue of criteria for determining malnutrition as well as the difference between enteral nutrition and parenteral nutrition.

Zusammenfassung

Anhand eines Patientenbeispiels werden die Schwierigkeiten der richtigen und rechtzeitig eingeleiteten Ernährungstherapie bei rasch fortschreitender maligner Erkrankung dargelegt. Es wird auf die Kriterien der Mangelernährung sowie auf die Unterschiede zwischen enteraler und parenteraler Ernährung eingegangen.
