Résumé
Les vertus thérapeutiques du miel ont été documentées dans 33 villages de cinq départements du Bénin répartis suivant les trois zones phytogéographiques. Les résultats ont montré que le miel est utilisé dans le traitement de 28 symptômes ou affections médicomagiques dont les plus cités sont les affections respiratoires (24,49 %), les troubles de mémoire (23,21 %), les maladies de peau et les plaies (11,92 %), la fièvre (11,41 %) et les troubles gastro-intestinaux (10,90 %). Les maladies citées varient suivant les communes et les groupes sociolinguistiques. Au total, 68 recettes ont été recensées pour le traitement des 28 affections ou symptômes, dont les plus riches en recettes sont les troubles gastro-intestinaux (14,71 %) et les affections respiratoires (13,24 %). Quant aux modes d’administration des recettes, c’est la voie orale qui prédomine à 74,48 %. Le miel reste un produit de choix dans la médecine traditionnelle béninoise.
Abstract
Therapeutic uses of honey have been documented in 33 villages of five departments divided according to three phytogeographical zones of Benin. Results showed that honey is used in the treatment of 28 symptoms or medicomagic diseases of which most quoted are respiratory diseases (24.49%), the unrests of memory (23.21%), illnesses of skin and wounds (11.92%), fever (11.41%), and gastrointestinal unrests (10.90%). The quoted illnesses vary according to the townships’ and the groups’ sociolinguistic parameters. Sixty-eight recipes have been counted for the treatment of 28 affections or symptoms. The most rich in recipes are gastrointestinal illnesses (14.71%) and the respiratory illnesses (13.24%). The oral way (74.48%) is the principal administration way of products. Honey remains an important product in Beninese traditional medicine.
