Summary

A methodological inconsistency in the analysis of experimental data using the high-Reynolds-number asymptotic solution obtained by Lindner-Silwester and Schneider (Acta Mech. 176, 245–258, 2005) in the framework of Shikhmurzaev's theory (Int. J. Multiphase Flow 19, 589–610, 1993) is pointed out. As it is shown, the same data can be satisfactorily and self-consistently described using the low-Reynolds-number asymptotic solution obtained earlier.
