Abstract
Extended forms of gamma and inverse Gaussian densities are considered. Pathway model of Mathai (Linear Algebra Appl 396:317–328, 2005) is utilized for the extension. The Laplace transform of this extended function is evaluated, thereby the moment generating functions in this general class can be obtained. Some Bayesian results are derived for the extended gamma family of densities. Distributions of products and ratios of the extended variables and computable series representations are discussed.
