Dear Editor,
We thank Dr. Li and Han [1] for their interest in our recent article titled “Percutaneous Antegrade Colonic Stent Insertion Using a Proximal Trans-peritoneal Colopexy Technique”.
We would like to report all colonic stenting within our institute is performed with a combination of a highly experienced interventional endoscopist and interventional radiologist.
We have stented a number of right-sided colonic lesions with this combined approach as you have also reported in your cited studies. In our cases, a percutaneous approach was only employed for lesions that could not be reached due to colonic tortuosity/volvulus, failure to cross the lesion using combined endoscopy and fluoroscopy, or patient refusal of endoscopy.
As we have stated antegrade percutaneous colonic stenting is a useful technique in patients in whom conventional stenting with a combined endoscopic and fluoroscopic approach has failed or is unsuitable.
