Abstract

After a brief outline of the history of reproductive medicine, human menopausal gonadotropin (HMG), in vitro fertilization (IVF) and intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), the state of the art for preservation of fertility before oncological treatment and current research plans are presented. Methods of assisted reproduction are discussed not only under medical aspects but also under social and psychological aspects (social freezing, egg donation).
