Abstract.

A quaternary mixture of sulfametazine (SM), sulfaquinoxaline (SQ), sulfatiazole (ST) and sulfamerazine (SR) was resolved by application of a partial least squares (PLS) method. A calibration set of standard samples has been designed. Squared correlation coefficients of 0.9981 for SM, 0.9904 for SR, 0.9993 for SQ and 0.9996 for ST were obtained by using the optimized PLS-1 model. Artificial mixtures of the four sulfonamides were satisfactorily analyzed. The possibility of a simultaneous determination in milk is presented.
