Summary
In this paper, two cases of severe rhesus disease managed by direct intravascular fetal transfusion techniques are described. In addition, the techniques of direct intravascular fetal transfusion are reviewed. It is suggested that direct intravascular transfusion techniques represent the optimum method for the management of severe rhesus disease and offer a ray of hope in an obstetric situation traditionally associated with a very poor pregnancy outcome.
