Low temperature liquid chromatographic separation of oxygenated terpenes from terpene hydrocarbons

Summary

The separation of β-pinene and menthone by HPLC on a silica gel column can be significantly improved with decreasing the column temperature. On a perparative scale complete separation of oxygenated terpenes from terpene hydrocarbons could be carried out under such conditions.
