Studies on the reaction of fetal fibrinogen with reptilase

Summary

The characteristic delayed fibrin formation of fetal fibrinogen at alkaline pH values can only be observed if fetal fibrinogen is clotted with thrombin. When using reptilase instead of thrombin, there are no differences between adult and fetal fibrinogen.

It is assumed that the molecular peculiarities of fetal fibrinogen are localized in the β(B)-chain because reptilase, in contrast to thrombin, does not split off peptide material from the β(B)-chain of fibrinogen.

Zusammenfassung

Die bei fetalem Fibrinogen charakteristisch verlängerte Umwandlungszeit zu Fibrin bei alkalischen pH-Werten kann nur beobachtet werden, wenn fetales Fibrinogen mit Thrombin zur Gerinnung gebracht wird. Mit Reptilase anstelle von Thrombin findet man keine Unterschiede zwischen adultem und fetalem Fibrinogen.

Es wird vermutet, daß die molekularen Besonderheiten des fetalen Fibrinogens in der β(B)-Kette festgelegt sind, da durch Reptilase im Gegensatz zu Thrombin keine Peptid-Abspaltung von der β(B)-Kette des Fibrinogens erfolgt.
