Abstract
The change of the charge radius and the quadrupole moment of the 2+-rotational state of174Yb are determined from Mössbauer measurements. Comparison with170Yb reveals slightly increasing rigidity at constant equilibrium deformation if two neutron pairs are added. Theoretical predictions are discussed, in connection with additional experimental data.
