Summary
In 9 of 12 patients suffering from lens-induced uveitis lymphocyte transformation could be induced in vitro with alphacrystalline, an isolated organ-specific antigen of the lens. This antigen also inhibited leukocyte migration in 8 out of 11 patients. The available date strongly suggest the cellular hypersensitivity to alpha-crystalline to be primarily involved in the development of this form of uveitis.
