Summary
Diuresis was produced by infusion of glucose, sterofundin, sterofundin plus urea, resp. by hydrochlorothiazide in six normal volunteers and one patient with diabetes insipidus centralis. Having established an urine concentration, maximal under these conditions, by infusion of 30 μU/kg/min ADH, additional 0.01 μg/kg/min Angiotensin were infused.
The following results were obtained:
-
1.
Angiotensin infusion increases urine concentration distinctly above the values, obtained by ADH-infusion alone. An increase of the interstitial osmotic concentration within the inner medulla is suggested to be responsible for this.
-
2.
Within the present experimental conditions, Angiotensin increases the urine concentration, it decreases urine volume/min, Cosm, and the urine sodium concentration.Ch 2 o becomes less negative. Urine concentrations of potassium, ammonium, urea, inuline, and PAH, however, increase. These effects of Angiotensin are explained by alteration of the intrarenal hemodynamic and by increased distal sodium and water reabsorption.
