The rings of Saturn

Abstract

This paper reviews observations of the rings of Saturn at visual, infrared, and radio wave-lengths. Critical assessments are made of attempts to derive the physical characteristics of the rings from these measurements. A discussion is also given of the origin and evolution of the rings.
