Abstract

From an Early Carboniferous (late Visean) locality in the Velbert Anticline (northern Rheinisches Schiefergebirge), the description of a diverse, silicified ostracod assemblage, as discovered by construction work, is given, first starting with the Palaeocopida (Palaeocopina, Platycopina, as an appendix “non-kloedenellaceans”). From the total ostracod assemblage, 30 palaeocopid species (in about 20 genera) are demonstrated, from which 6 species [Malnina? arcula n. sp.,Ochescapha ornabilis n. sp.,Villozona (Villozona) tetrasticha n. sp.,Villozona (Solozona) celsa n. sp.,Croftsendella propria n. sp. and“Glyptolichvinella” auris n. sp.] are new; the rest remain under open nomenclature.
