Charged-particle beams as gravitoelectric antennas

  • Published:
Il Nuovo Cimento B (1971-1996)

Summary

We compute the electromagnetic radiation that is emitted by a scalar charge moving uniformly in a gravitational-wave background. We give closed-form differential cross-sections which are valid for any velocity of the charge and for any direction of incidence of the gravitational wave. The results indicate that a charged-particle beam may be used in principle as a direction-sensitive gravitational-wave antenna.
