Regge recurrences and π-p elastic scattering at high momentum transfers

Summary

The influence of the resonance formation on the high momentum transfer elastic π-p scattering is investigated. A new model, in which the known Regge recurrences are extrapolated to higher energies, is proposed. It is shown that the model can account for the present data on the π-p elastic scattering at high momentum transfers. Some implications of such a mechanism are discussed.
