Summary

Inverse gas chromatography with an olefinic stationary phase and air as carrier gas has been found to yield characteristic shifts of retention data. The resulting plots of reten index versus reaction time have been found to be similar to those given by the existing methods for monitoring oxidation reactions available for use in rubber technology. Furthermore, the expected dependence upon temperature and presence of metal ions of these chromatographic ocidation curves have been observed. The chromatographic method is shown to be complementary to the existing technological systems.
