Abstract
A new species ofCandida was isolated from water scums. It ferments glucose and sucrose; maltose and raffinose fermentation is retarded.
Starch production could be demonstrated on malt agar. Potassium nitrate is assimilated. The proposed name isCandida aquatica. Data on the distribution and physiology of the species are presented.
