Conclusions
-
1.
Negative catalysis by copper ions in the chain reaction of oxidation of cyclohexanol was established.
-
2.
A mechanism including the reduction of Cu2+ ions and the oxidation of Cu1+ ions by hydroxy peroxide radicals of the alcohol was proposed.
-
3.
The rate constant of the reaction of Cu2+ with the hydroxy peroxide radical, equal to 3.2·106 liters /mole-sec at 75°, was measured.
