Zusammenfassung
Summary
1. By means of 14C-Urea the passage of urea through the rumenwall and the rate of synthesis of urea in the body are continuously invetigated. The influence of increased urea blood levels and of increased rumen ammonia levels are analysed.
2. Increased urea blood levels are without reaction on the rate of transport of urea into the rumen. This finding is conform with the assumption of an active transport.
3. Increased rumen ammonia levels ascend the passage of ammonia through the rumen wall. This finding is conform with the assumption of diffusion.
4. The diffusion of ammonia out of the rumen and the constant transport of urea into it form a system which tends to balance the ammonia content of the rumen.
5. The permeability of the rumen wall for ammonia is variable. During oligury it is increased, during poliury it is decreased.
