Abstract

Meristem-derived plantlets of cassava (Manihot esculenta Crantz) were induced to flower in vitro. Five genotypes out of 13 consistently responded to our culture conditions giving rise to male or female flowers. Male flowers contained anthers in which meiosis occurred and apparently normal pollen grains were formed.
