Abstract
Worms were measured and their biovolumes estimated. Measurements show that the biovolume (V) of Limnodrilus hoffmeisteri was significantly correlated with the diameter of the segment XI (dXI):V = 13.553dXI 2.987 (r2 = 0.92). Production was estimated for L. hoffmeisteri and for a population of Tubificidae with hair setae where Potamothrix heuscheri dominated, using the “Hynes method” reviewed by Menzie (1980). The P/B ratios of L. hoffmeisteri and Tubificidae with hair setae were 4.9 and 5.4.
