Abstract
Although previous studies have revealed the advantages of applying information and communication technology (ICT) to knowledge creation, problems with these technologically infused learning environments have also been identified. This chapter addressed one of the important issues in knowledge creation: the support for teachers in tracking and analyzing learning behaviors and learning strategies in the facilitation of knowledge creation processes. The blazing speed of technological renewal often prompted new modality in systemic interaction and, hence, added new meanings to constructivism in technologically afforded knowledge creation. Amalgamation of latest technological innovations (i.e., Web 2.0) and knowledge creation has seen an increasing output of more interactive and constructivist platforms. Based on our analyses, this chapter proposes a new knowledge creation platform founded on fundamental theories of knowledge creation that include the knowledge spiral, the expansive learning framework, and the knowledge building approach. Moreover, this chapter suggests possible real-time analytics to support learners in knowledge creation and to assist the teachers in tracking and analyzing learners’ behaviors and learning strategies. In principle, these suggestions can be implemented within four major aspects of current knowledge creation platforms – teachers’ management space, knowledge construction space for epistemic artifacts, collaborative knowledge creation space, and personal space for the building of individual e-portfolio.
