Abstract

Although extensive basic and clinical researches have been conducted regarding ossification of posterior longitudinal ligament (OPLL) and ossification of ligamentum flavum (OLF), their etiology still remains unclear. However, recently, several breakthroughs in basic researches especially on genetics, biomarkers, stem cells, etc., have taken place. In this chapter, the updates of basic researches are reviewed by frontrunner researchers and the brief summary of these researches is described in this article.
