Abstract

The role of grandparents in their grandchildren’s education has changed dramatically over the last generation. There are many factors which contribute to these changes such as a greater emphasis and importance placed on education, both parents working which results in required assistance from the grandparents, there are not as many grandchildren these days therefore more time to devote to the grandchildren, many grandparents are retiring at younger ages and they have more energy and enthusiasm to take on an active role in their grandchildren’s educational lives.
