Central control of water and salt intake in goats and sheep

  • Chapter
Digestive Physiology and Metabolism in Ruminants

Abstract

The central control of water and salt balances in ruminants was one of the topics at the meeting of this Symposium in Cambridge 1969. Therefore, this presentation mainly covers the further development in the field that has occurred during the latest decade. Since the regulation of water intake and the secretion of antidiuretic hormone (ADH) are intimately linked, both these aspects of the control of water balance are discussed together.
