Abstract
Sanderlings are breeding in high arctic regions of both the Nearctic and the Palearctic (Fig. 50). The breeding distribution is scattered, with large areas in Siberia and Alaska being unoccupied. The major breeding concentrations are found in the Canadian Arctic, on N and E Greenland, on Svalbard and in Central and W Siberia: Taymyr, Severnaya Zemlya, and the New Siberian Islands.
