Recent Advances in Paramyxovirus Infection of Turkeys in France

  • Chapter
Acute Virus Infections of Poultry

Part of the book series: Current Topics in Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science ((CTVM,volume 37))

Abstract

Paramyxovirus (PMV) types 1, 2 or 3, are encountered in turkey flocks in France. Lentogenic PMV1 and PMV2 are associated with respiratory problems (Infectious Rhinotracheitis) but they do not seem to be the main etiological agents of this condition. PMV3 alone was detected in laying flocks associated with egg drops. A recently undertaken vaccination programme against PMV3 gives incomplete protection.
