Abstract
I discuss the importance of geography in the Portuguese curricula, and how the European educational reforms emphasize experimental learning supported by technologies. I then explain the ConTIG project and how it is one of the few experiences using GIS in the classroom in Portugal. The chapter concludes with some examples of the most recent activities of this project and how it has gone through despite limited support from school officials and the government thanks to the effort of a few teachers.
