Samenvatting

Onvervulde kinderwens is een veelvoorkomend probleem met grote impact op het welbevinden van mensen. In dit hoofdstuk wordt toegelicht wat mogelijke oorzaken kunnen zijn en wat de huisarts zelf kan doen aan begeleiding en (aanvullend) onderzoek. Er is uitgebreide aandacht voor nieuwe fertiliteitsbevorderende behandelingen en welke mogelijkheden er zijn, ook voor paren van hetzelfde geslacht, om een kinderwens te vervullen. Tevens worden de psychosociale gevolgen van een (onvervulde) zwangerschapswens besproken.
