Abstract

The most critical issue related to the mobile ad hoc networks is the security. Due to various characteristics, MANET is likely to be exposed to the Grayhole attack. This type of attack tends to degrade the network performance by falsifying the route and dropping the packets. The Grayhole attack may take place during the route discovery time as well as during the data transmission time. In this paper, we provide a solution which would mitigate the Grayhole attack during the route discovery phase as well as during the data transmission phase. Our solution detects the attack taking place during any of the two phases.
