Abstract
β1,3-N-Acetylglucosaminyltransferase (β3GnT) enzymes synthesize a unique carbohydrate structure known as polylactosamine (poly-N-acetyllactosamine). Polylactosamines are carried on N- and O-glycans and glycolipids. Polylactosamine units are considered as integral components serving as a fundamental structure and backbone for carbohydrate assemblies (Fig. 28.1).
