Dynamic CT scanning of the cavernous sinus

  • Chapter
The Cavernous Sinus

Abstract

The direct surgical approach to the cavernous sinus either for vascular malformations or invasive tumors treatment is now largely accepted. The need for detailed vascular anatomy including venous anatomy of the parasellar space and for precise diagnosis is obvious: for instance medical management can be completely modified for pituitary adenomas invading the cavernous sinus versus pituitary adenomas displacing the cavernous sinus. Dynamic CT scanning can help to answer these questions.
