Zusammenfassung

Die Gruppe der älteren Patienten ist wie keine andere von postoperativen Komplikationen betroffen. Gleichzeitig steigt der Anteil unter ihnen, der sich komplexen und invasiven operativen Eingriffen unterziehen muss, stetig an. Die Auswirkungen postoperativer Komplikationen bleiben für die Behandler dabei oftmals inapparent, da sich gerade langfristige Einbußen der Funktionalität im Alltag erst nach der Entlassung aus dem Krankenhaus manifestieren. Für die optimale Versorgung älterer Risikopatienten sind daher ärztliches Basiswissen über die komplexen und multidimensionalen Auswirkungen des Alterns und resultierende Implikationen für Behandlung und Behandlungsplanung älterer Patienten von Vorteil. Sie erfordert zudem ein alters-adaptiertes perioperatives Management, das nur im interdisziplinären Ansatz gelingen kann.
