Abstract

We present a preliminary report of the first systematic microcanonical Molecular Dynamics study of the low temperature phase of Rb ions intercalated into strongly corrugated graphite host layers in a Stage-2 Graphite Intercalation Compound. The ions interact through screened Coulomb repulsion. We calculate the pair correlation function, the static structure factor, and present snapshots of the low temperature Rb lattice. Our results are discussed and compared with the experimental work of Clarke et al on the closely related CsC24 system.
