Abstract

Acute pancreatitis is a common disorder the incidence of which is increasing in emergency units and which is still associated with high mortality.

The main pathophysiological event that characterises acute pancreatitis consists in the positive feedback of auto-digestive activation of pancreatic pro-enyzmes within the gland along with the systemic extension of the inflammatory process.
