Zusammenfassung
Unter Essstörungen werden persistierende Störungen des Essverhaltens verstanden, die zu einer veränderten Nahrungsaufnahme führen und damit die körperliche Gesundheit und die psychosoziale Funktionsfähigkeit beeinträchtigen. Zentrale und periphere Auswirkungen der veränderten Energiezufuhr tragen zur Aufrechterhaltung des pathologischen Essverhaltens bei und können komorbide psychische Störungen verstärken.
