Zusammenfassung
In diesem Kapitel geht es um schulbezogene und außerschulische Selbstkonzepte. Wie entwickeln sich schulische Selbstkonzepte? Wodurch wird das Selbstvertrauen in Mathematik beeinflusst? Wie wirkt sich das fachbezogene Selbstvertrauen auf das Erleben und Verhalten von Schülerinnen und Schülern aus? Zunächst sollen kurz die theoretischen Wurzeln der pädagogisch-psychologischen Selbstkonzeptforschung beschrieben werden. Zudem werden gedächtnis- und entwicklungspsychologische Selbstkonzeptmodelle skizziert und die Kernmerkmale sozialpsychologischer Selbstkonzeptforschung aufgeführt. Danach erfolgt eine eingehende Beschreibung von Struktur, Stabilität und Erfassung des Selbstkonzepts, bevor die Determinanten des Selbstkonzepts beschrieben werden. Anschließend wird die Bedeutung des Selbstkonzepts für schulische Leistungen und Wahlentscheidungen dargestellt. Abschließend werden Möglichkeiten der Förderung der Selbstkonzepte vorgestellt.
