Politischer Protest im Netz – Möglichkeiten und Grenzen der Mobilisierung transnationaler Öffentlichkeit im Zeichen digitaler Kommunikation

Politik in der Mediendemokratie

Seit den 1960er Jahren haben sich unkonventionelle Formen der politischen Teilhabe wie die Unterzeichnung von Petitionen, Demonstrationen, Boykotte, Blockaden und andere Formen des zivilen Ungehorsams zu dauerhaften Elementen des politischen Handlungsrepertoires der Bürger westlicher repräsentativer Demokratien entwickelt. Neue soziale Bewegungen haben weltweit gegenüber traditionellen Interessengruppen an Einfluss gewonnen und „agencies, repertoires, and targets of political participation“ verändert (Norris 2002: 221).
