Zusammenfassung
Die Amores sind eine Sammlung von Liebeselegien und stellen Ovids Erstlingswerk dar, das gleich eine Dichtung von weltliterarischem Rang mit einer kaum überschaubaren Wirkungsgeschichte ist. In einem Epigramm, das am Anfang der Sammlung steht, wird angekündigt, dass das Werk, das vorher aus fünf Büchern bestand, nun drei Bücher enthält (Epigramm 1–2). Ein Teil der Philologen argumentiert dafür, dass diese Aussage wörtlich zu nehmen ist und den Amores, die wir kennen, eine erste Ausgabe vorangegangen ist.
